Kansas City's Family-Owned Furniture Store

Old Crowley Delivery Truck

Our Story

Charles and Marilyn Crowley opened the first Crowley Furniture store in Excelsior Springs, MO in 1954, beginning a business that has been raised and cared for by the family ever since. Their son Greg grew up immersed in the daily operations of a furniture business and in 1972, after graduating from the University of Kansas, officially began his career and commitment to continue the company’s tradition of quality furniture and great service. In 1985 Greg took ownership and set the stage for success as the family-run furniture store headed toward a new millennium. In 2000, his wife Beth left behind a teaching career to join him and in 2003 their daughter Laura became the third generation to nurture the growing business. Their daughter Katie joined the business in 2019. With locations in Liberty, Lee's Summit, Overland Park and Blue Springs, Crowley Furniture is proud to be Kansas City's family-owned furniture store since 1954.

Charlie’s House

In 2007 two year-old Charlie Horn was killed when he attempted to climb a 30” dresser in his home. Through this tragedy Charlie’s House was born. With safety at its core, Charlie’s House is dedicated to keeping the community informed and engaged when it comes to preventing injuries to children in and around the home. It is their wish, in addition to distributing home safety information, to also provide adults with real-life demonstrations, examples and resources on children’s safety. To this end, Charlie's House recently opened the first Safety Demonstration Home in the nation located at Hospital Hill - 2425 Campbell Street, Kansas City, MO 64108.

How we’re committed:

As firm believers in taking precautions to ensure furniture safety in the home, we support the efforts of Charlie’s House through the sponsorship of anti-tip furniture strap kits and info sliders that raise awareness of potential hazards throughout the home. Complimentary anti-tip furniture kits can be picked up at all three Crowley Furniture locations.

Sleepyhead Beds

Since 2010, Sleepyhead Beds has distributed over 16,000 mattresses to Kansas City area children and families in need. With a mission to improve the quality of life for children and their families, Sleepyhead Beds accepts new and gently used beds and bedding, sanitizes them and distributes to those in need free of charge. Their sanitization process contributes to the health of our community as well as our environment by repurposing mattresses that otherwise would have ended up in our landfills. To date, they have diverted almost 900,000 pounds of mattresses, enough to fill five Goodyear Blimps.

How we’re committed:

Recognizing the impact of quality sleep on quality of life, we feel a deep connection with the mission of Sleepyhead Beds and look forward to continuing our relationship and providing them with new mattress sets for those in need of a bed to call their own.
